It can penetrate deep into the skin and, unlike other lasers on the market, can treat all skin phototypes from Fitzpatrick type I (fair skin with light hair) to Fitzpatrick type IV (very dark skin with dark hair). During the treatment, the light energy of the laser penetrates a few millimeters deep into the skin and reaches the root of the hair, where the photons are absorbed because they are attracted to the pigment melanin. When the light reaches the melanin in the hair, it is absorbed and converted into heat. The darker, thicker and denser the hair, the more heat is produced. This heat damages the cells immediately around the root of the hair, i.e. the follicle, which is responsible for hair regrowth, which allows for a drastic reduction in the number of hairs in the treated area.
Laser hair removal is successful, but depending on skin type, hair color and thickness, root depth and other factors, more or less treatments are required. For maximum treatment effectiveness, it is necessary to agree on a treatment plan with the experts at Aqua Med Medical Wellness.
On average, six to seven treatments are required (unlike IPL treatment, i.e. Intensified Pulsed Light treatment, which requires 12 treatments). The procedure is almost painless, and up to 35% of hair is removed after just one treatment. The MeDioStar NeXT diode laser is equipped with a system that cools the treated area immediately before the laser pulse is emitted, thus ensuring greater comfort and safety for the patient during the treatment.
